Two Texas Children Witness Murder-Suicide of Parents

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) — Authorities in suburban Houston say a man shot the mother of his children as the two were transferring custody of their boys and then turned the gun on himself.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the couple had recently separated and met Wednesday evening at a convenience store in The Woodlands so that one could hand over their two boys to the other.

Authorities say the children witnessed the shooting, as did others at the store at the time. KHOU-TV in Houston reports one boy is 14 and the other 11.  The man died at the scene and the woman was transported to a hospital where she later died. Neither has been identified.  The boys were not physically harmed.
