Good Samaritan Gets Astonishing $500 Fine for Littering After Dollar Bill He Gave to Homeless Man Fell on the Ground [VIDEO]

Fox 8

There are days when it just doesn’t pay to be a Good Samaritan. In fact, sometimes it can get you in trouble with the law, and even cost you some money.

Just ask John Davis, of Elyria, Ohio, who says that he was recently stopped by a Cleveland police officer and cited for littering after accidentally dropping one of the two dollars he had given to a panhandler earlier that day on the street. His punishment? A $500 fine.

According to Davis, he pulled up to a disabled panhandler just off the highway where he handed him two dollars. While attempting to give him the money, however, a dollar bill slipped out of his hand and landed on the street.

Even though the dollar bill was immediately picked up and collected by the panhandler, Davis says shortly after driving away from the man, he was ordered to pull over by the police and given a ticket for littering.

Davis plans to challenge his fine in court because even though Cleveland does have a law banning drivers from giving money to panhandlers. He claims his ticket was clearly for the violation of littering from a motor vehicle.
