The 45 year old Windthorst Road bridge is one step closer to being just an old, narrow memory.

The old 24 foot wide bridge will undergo demolition beginning next week.  TxDOT contractors have finished one half of what will be the bridge structure.  The first half will open to traffic on Friday (March 15).  Once the old bridge is demolished, construction will begin on the second half of the structure.

The new, completed structure will be 84 feet wide and eventually carry four lanes of traffic once Windthorst Rd is widened.  In addition, sidewalks and a Texas turnaround will be constructed for east to west traffic.
