Osama bin Laden Killed in Pakistan, President Obama Confirms

In a stunning development, President Barack Obama confirmed late Sunday evening that Osama bin Laden, the leader of terrorist group Al-Qaeda responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks, was killed Sunday in Pakistan.

Obama made the announcement in a televised address shortly after 11:30 PM ET, about an hour after reports of bin Laden's death had made their way onto the Internet.

Budget Compromise Avoids Government Shutdown – President’s Weekly Address

After weeks of negotiations, President Obama and Congress finally came to an agreement regarding the United States budget.  I understand that getting the budget right is an important task for our government, but toeing the line with an impending government shutdown seems a little risky.  The collateral damage that would occur if the government actually shut down would cause tremendous economic pain when a lot of Americans are already feeling the pressures of a less than stellar economy. Thankfully the government will not be shut down - this time.
