Brazen Bird Steals Camera, Records Journey [VIDEO]
SYDNEY (AP) — A brazen bird has snatched a video camera that was recording crocodiles in northwest Australia and took it on a 110-kilometer (70-mile) journey.
Wildlife rangers in Western Australia's remote Kimberley region released fascinating footage on Monday that reveals the sea eagle's caper. The bird's flapping wings can be seen as it grabs the device and soars across the landscape. The eagle later poses for a selfie, poking its face into the camera lens.
Rangers placed the motion-sensor camera along a river in May, hoping to capture images of crocodiles. The camera disappeared soon after.
Ranger Roneil Skeen told Australian Broadcasting Corp. that another ranger recently found the camera near a river about 110 kilometers (70 miles) from where it vanished. The footage inside revealed the real culprit.
