Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 32 year-old Burkburnett man in the brutal beating of his girlfriend.   Johnny Wayne Morrison was taken into custody on Monday.  Authorities say Morrison was driving into Clay County around midnight Friday when he stopped the car and began hitting the woman.  Deputies interviewed the victim who told deputies she was dragged out of the car after Morrison stopped a second time along Lower Charlie Road and she was beaten again.

The victim said she and Morrison then drove home and he threatened to harm her family if she reported him.  KAUZ reports that Morrison has a violent criminal history, including charges for murder in 2001 and aggravated sexual assault of a child in 2003.  Morrison has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily harm and felon in possession of a firearm.  No bond has been set on the assault charge.  Bond was set at $50,000 on the weapons charge.  He remains in the Clay County Jail.
