It's dry.  Very, very dry.  Texas is in the grips of one of the worst drouhgts in the last 50 years and this has prompted over 125 Texas Counties to enact burn bans to include the use of fireworks this year.  In our area, here is where some of our counties stand:

Archer--use of fireworks is banned

Clay--use of fireworks is banned

Montague--use of fireworks is banned

Wichita--sale and use of fireworks is banned

Wilbarger--use of fireworks is banned

Outdoor burning has been banned in all of these counties and many more across the Lone Star State as officials try to keep the lid on wildfires as much as possible.  City official in Wichita Falls took the extra step of posting signs at the city limits alerting people to the fact that the possession and use of fireworks is illegal in Wichita Falls.  This, however, is a standing city ordinance year round.
