‘Cannibal Cop’ Busted in New York After Plotting to Cook Women

Gilberto Valle’s taste for human flesh has landed him in hot water.

The 28-year-old New York City police officer allegedly used law enforcement databases to compile a detailed digital file of 100 women whom he planned to “kidnap, rape, kill, cook and eat.”

According to the FBI, which became involved in the case when Valle’s estranged wife tipped them off, Valle had met at least 10 of these women before.

Much of the evidence against Valle, a six-year veteran of the NYPD, comes from emails he sent to an unnamed co-conspirator in which he discussed plans for his gruesome crimes.

“I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus … cook her over low heat, keep her alive as long as possible,” Valle wrote in one the exchanges. In the emails, Valle described one of his potential victims as “tasty” and discussed strategies for getting full-grown women into his regular-size oven.

Valle is being held without bail on charges that include kidnapping, conspiracy and unauthorized use of law enforcement records. He faces up to 100 years in prison. Valle pleaded not guilty Thursday, and his lawyer, Julia Gatto, suggests Valle is going to mount what could be described as a “sick fantasy” defense.

“There’s no actual crossing the line from fantasy to reality,” Gatto explained. “At worst this is someone who has sexual fantasies about people he knows and he talks about it on the Internet.”
