The following is a press release from Barry Levy, Communication Specialist for the City of Wichita Falls:

City Weather Response Morning Update

-***IMPORTANT****The rolling blackouts initiated by ENCOR are cutting power to various traffic signals in the City. Drivers are to use extreme caution when approaching intersections with traffic signals because they may not be operating. City officials continue to encourage citizens to stay off the roadways and to STAY HOME.

-City bus service for Thursday is yet to be determined

-All American Eagle flights at Municipal Airport are cancelled for today. Municipal Airport is manned but remains closed. For booking and flight information call 1-800-433-7300.

-Kickapoo Airport is manned but closed. City crews will be plowing the runway later today but the layer of ice below the snow will not allow for aircraft activity.

-Trash service is cancelled for Thursday.

-Fire and Police officials are asking the public to continue to STAY HOME. Roadways are passable but considered treacherous. These officials expressed their appreciation to the citizens who have heeded the weather warnings and have stayed off City streets. Due to their cooperation there has been a significant drop in emergency response calls, which keeps emergency response personnel off the streets and out of harms way.

-Street crews continue to clear snow from roadways and spread chat ice on the roadways. They also continue to clear vital access points to area hospitals and Police and Fire Departments.
