South Dakota Republican Sen. John Thune, the incoming chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee told the Associated Press that raising the federal fuel taxes is 'among the options under consideration' to replenish the dwindling Highway Trust Fund.

Sen. Orrin Hatch was one of many Republicans to sign a pledge promising to oppose any income tax hikes or reductions in tax credits or deductions unless those hikes were matched by reducing tax rates. He now says he has an 'open mind' to just such a tax increase, calling it a 'user fee'. So much for pledges, eh Senator?

Watch the video above for my two cents worth on the matter and what congress should really be doing about the Highway Trust Fund instead.
