Cowboy True Kicks off at J.S. Bridwell Ag Center Tonight
The 5th annual Cowboy True Art Exhibit and Auction gets underway this evening at the J. S. Bridwell Ag Center. The event premiered in 2012 at the Forum. The event co-chair, Dan Shores, realized the event would quickly outgrow the venue and it was moved to the Bridwell beginning in 2013. Admission to view the artwork and meet the artists is free to the public.
This year’s Cowboy True features the work of 60 artists. Everything from bits, spurs and saddles to paintings and sculptures will be on display. Twenty juried pieces will be auctioned on Saturday night. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will benefit The Forum, with 100 percent of the proceeds from select artworks going to the organization.
Friday’s events kick off at 5:30 pm with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. The Artist Awards Ceremony and official unveiling of the live auction items is also tonight. Live music with Seth James and Jessica Murry gets under way at 8pm. Tickets for the concert are $15 and will be available at the door.
The event continues on Saturday and is free and open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm. Saturday’s events will include the Grand Entry and Wild West Mounted Shooters, a fiddle duo with Hailey Sandoz and Kristyn Harris on the main stage at 12 noon and 2 pm, a Cowboy Kids Corral at 12:30 pm. World Championship Chuckwagons will serve up lunch at 12 noon. Cost for the lunch is $15 per plate.
The event concludes with the art auction and steak dinner at 5:30 pm. The dinner and auction tickets are $60 each and as of Friday morning only a few tickets remained. For tickets and info call The Forum, 940-766-3347
