DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas woman has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for the sledgehammer beating death of a man in his North Texas apartment.

The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday that 22-year-old Lakeisha Jean McWay pleaded guilty last week to murder in a plea deal.

The body of Paul Halperin of Plano was found in May 2011 wrapped in a sheet in his bedroom. His vehicle was missing.

Court documents indicate McWay was driving the victim's car and had some of his belongings.

McWay and 20-year-old Shaniqua Shuntay Shelton of Dallas were indicted on capital murder charges. Shelton earlier this year pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Police have said one of the women knew the victim. Details weren't immediately available.
