Today (September 18th) is the final day for the After School Fishing program through the Wichita Falls Parks and Rec. Kids ages 5-16 can go fishing in South Weeks Park and have all necessary items provided. It's a great opportunity to let a kid experience fishing, without the big investment.  Here's the info from the parks and rec press release:

Today is the last day for After School Fishing, for kids ages 5 to 16, at South Weeks Park, located at Taft and Southwest Parkway. Fishing is from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and costs $3 for a first child and $2 for each additional child from the same household.
Texas Parks and Wildlife will furnish bait, fishing tackle and instruction. Participants will receive personalized and expert instruction on common fishing techniques. Fish of legal size can be taken home (with parent’s permission). Participants are encouraged to bring a container for the fish that can be taken home. There is limited space, please sign up early. Registration is held at the Wichita Falls Recreation Center at 10th and Indiana room 209 (above the Public Library). Call 761-7490 for additional information.
