From the Bizarre to the Extreme: Is America Getting Crazier, or is it Just Me?

There are times when I genuinely feel like we’ve awakened on another planet.  The last couple of weeks have been horrific in terms of the news: cannibalism in Florida; a cannibal porn star is hunted across two continents and captured in an internet café looking at stories about the hunt for himself; our own country has started using drones to spy on us; New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg wants to ban sodas over 16 ounces; what has happened?

Maybe it’s lunar activity or that Venus transit thing or perhaps the world really is getting crazier by the day.  Locusts are swarming in Libya!  I see Biblical stuff unfolding here.  All the scary stuff I’ve been hearing about in church since I was a kid seems to be unfolding before our very eyes.  And it’s going to get worse before it gets better.  Bottom line, we each have an obligation to take care of our families and ourselves in good times and bad, so prepare, plan and hopefully avoid the zombie apocalypse!

As a nation, our chief concerns have to be the economy and our civil liberties.  And without our liberties, it’s tough to do things that will further our economy and thus our individual economic health.  Being entrepreneurs and innovators is difficult enough without the government putting everything you do under a microscope and subjecting each of us to a body cavity search over every tiny detail.
