George Zimmerman was taken into custody on Monday afternoon in Lake Mary, Florida, after his wife, Shellie, told police he had pulled a gun on her. Zimmerman has not been charged with a crime at this time and is being held in investigative detention.

"Anytime we have anybody suspected of doing anything, we place them in investigative detention until a complete investigation has been done," Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson told CNN.

Monday's incident occurred at Shellie Zimmerman's father's house. According to a Lake Mary deputy police chief, "There was some kind of a domestic [incident], we know that, with [Zimmerman's] wife and father-in-law. Apparently there were some weapons involved and threats." A gun was found at the house.

In July Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin, a case that garnered nationwide attention. Last week, Shellie announced that she was filing for divorce from her husband.

Shellie Zimmerman pleaded guilty last month to perjury charges. At a bond hearing in April 2012, she told a judge that she and her husband were broke, even though they had collected more than $135,000 in donations for George's legal defense in the Martin case.
