Is it possible the media just missed this?  I don’t think so, especially any media with 100 miles of the trial.  The trial I’m referring to is that of Dr. Kermit Gosnell.  The mainstream media has remained silent on the trial, now entering its 5th week.  Gosnell is accused of killing seven newborn infants and one mother.  What makes this trial off limits, in my opinion at least, for the mainstream media, is that Gosnell is an abortion doctor.  His clinic has been described as a “house of horrors”.  According to a Business Insider article, "former clinic worker Ashley Baldwin, who's now 22, testified that she helped Gosnell perform abortions and saw five aborted babies moving and breathing, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. One baby even screamed, Baldwin said.”  Baldwin was 15 years old at the time.  The BI article also states that “Gosnell allegedly had women deliver live babies in his absence. He came back to kill the ‘squirming’ infants, according to the grand jury report.”  An extremely graphic 281 page grand jury report details the rancid conditions at the clinic and even shows evidence photos of babies dead bodies bagged for ‘disposal’.

Gosnell allegedly killed seven infants by snipping their spinal cords with scissors after they were born.  He is also charged in the death of 41 year old immigrant woman, Karnamaya Mongar, who died of a Demerol overdose.  For many of you, this may be the first time you’ve heard any of this.  Why?  The mainstream media has been complicit in the liberal left’s pro-abortion argument.  And they have deliberately shielded the public from the horrible reality behind the hideous procedure.  To report on this trial would run counter to what they (the media, the left-wing liberal crowd) have long argued for: a woman’s ‘right’ to an abortion.

All this said it is not only the mainstream media that has failed to cover this trial, to expose this vile man and his ‘house of horrors’.  Conservative media really only picked up on the story in the last week. reports that Pennsylvania officials did not inspect Gosnell’s clinic for 17 years, despite numerous complaints.  It was an FBI raid early in 2010 that led to Gosnell’s arrest.  So why has it taken so long for the lib media, the conservative media or any other media to pick up this story?  Abortion has, I am afraid, become something most of us would just rather ignore.  It’s there.  Since Roe v. Wade, it’s been a part of the national discussion, but pressure from the ‘abortion rights’ left pushed the horrible truths about abortion back into the closet.  Out of sight, out of mind has been the order of the day for much of the media.

But the Gosnell case paints a picture that is beyond disturbing.  It’s like something out of a horrible, twisted Hollywiered movie.  But it’s not fiction.  These events happened.  Lives have been destroyed and murder has been committed.  Abortion rights advocates are all over the radar on this.  Some argue the coverage will damage a woman’s ‘right’ to choose.  Other advocates argue the coverage illustrates the need to keep abortion legal and clinics well regulated.  Regardless of the effect this trial may have, one thing is certain, Kermit Gosnell is facing the death penalty if convicted of the first degree murder charges he is facing.  God willing, he’ll get everything he deserves.
