Huntington Road Bridge Project Moves Forward
TxDOT appears to be making great headway with the Huntington Road bridge project. The project was projected to last 11 months when it began back in July of this year.
According to Public Information Officer Adele Lewis, cranes will hoist beams into place for the new Huntington Road Bridge over US 287 starting Tuesday, September 15 over the Northbound lanes. The Southbound traffic will be diverted September 16.
Vehicles will exit at Huntington Road, drive across Huntington and reenter the freeway using the Huntington Road entrance ramps. Only minor delays are expected during high traffic times.
The replacement of Huntington Road Bridge is forecast to cost $2.4 million, all of which is coming from state and federal highway funds.
The old bridge was only 13’11” tall and had been hit by trucks numerous times. The new bridge will be 17.2’ high. The bridge will also be widened to accommodate two 12’ driving lanes with two 8’ shoulders
