From Sony to Citibank, data breaches have been the talk of the web lately.  Who’s safe anymore?  Personally, I don’t think any of us are.  Our lives are all over the place.  Everything you’ve ever done, job, credit cards, home and auto purchases, they’re all tied directly to your social security number and drivers license number.  Texas revealed weeks ago that the personal info of millions of Texans had been inadvertently left wide open on an FTP site for a short time.  God only knows who got into that one.  Frankly, I’m tired of being so exposed.  My wife and I are planning a return to an old staple: cash.  It’s a tough discipline, but one I must master.  Put away the debit card, cut up the credit card and use cash.  Frankly, I’m a firm believer in the ideology that there are those who want to push us to a one-world currency.  I don’t think it’s just political spin, it’s real.  And I will hotly resist.  So this discipline of ‘going cash’ again has a two-fold purpose for me: it forces me away from the plastic and sends a message to the jack-booted thugs who want us all on the digital chain gang.  Besides, the less we hang ourselves out there for the thieves, the less likely we are to become victims.  Most of us will never buy a home or a car without utilizing credit, but is it really that hard to walk to the window to pay for your $3.50 gallon of gas with actually money?  No, it isn’t.  You just have to want to do it.
