Shortly after noon on Monday (April 16th) an accident at the intersection of 11th and Holiday in downtown Wichita Falls left one individual dead and at least two others injured.  According to Wichita Falls Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Joe Snyder, an ambulance from Archer City was in route to United Regional Hospital with a patient when the ambulance was struck by a car.

58-year old Roy Lee Pope of Archer City was being rushed to the hospital after being attacked by bees when the car crashed into the ambulance carrying him, knocking it on its side.  Pope was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The woman driving the car and the two paramedics driving the ambulance were treated for minor injuries.

Whether or not Pope died from the bee stings or injuries from the crash is still undetermined at this time.
