Though Texas is arguably the best state, residents still like to leave it for vacation. A new study revealed that El Salvador is the destination of choice for Texans looking to get away from it all.

The folks at Hopper.com put together a comprehensive map that illustrates just how different states' travel habits are.

The website researched international travel destinations for each state to discover the most popular travel spots for residents.

To determine a state's favorite vacation/travel spot, the researchers simply found the country "that made up the highest percentage of international travel as compared to the national average."

For Texas and Arkansas residents, El Salvador is no. 1. Louisianans, however, prefer Honduras. In general, southern states prefer the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.
