President Obama stated just yesterday that his position on gay marriage was ‘evolving’.  Evolution certainly comes quick in politics.  As candidate Obama, he stated that he believed marriage was between a man and a woman and for him “as a Christian”, it was a sacred union.  Today, the President stepped out firmly in support of gay marriage, a move that is certain to further polarize his base going into the November elections.

Thirty-two states, including Texas, have voter approved constitutional amendments banning gay marriage and civil unions between same-sex couples.  Many of the state bans are facing federal challenges already.  Could Obama’s ‘evolution’ on the issue help set the stage for a move on the part of the federal government to legalize gay marriage on a national level?  Such a move certainly flies in the face of the 10th Amendment.  What do you think?  Do you support the President’s position on gay marriage?
