The Wichita County Public Health District has announced a recall alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Olam Tomato Processors, Inc., Mild and Medium Chunky Salsa.

The product may contain large pieces of glass and has been sold in the Wichita Falls area. This product was sold at Dollar Tree and Deals stores, Dollar Express and Dollar Bill$.

The labels of the affected product will say “Distributed by Greenbrier International, Inc.”

The recall involves the following Chunky Salsa:

Mild Chunky Salsa (UPC 3927759137)
L12142 (Best By Date June 2015)
L04093 (Best By Date October 2015)

Medium Chunky Salsa (UPC 3927759139)
L01313 (Best By Date July 2015)

The voluntary recall is limited to these three lots of production, which were distributed nationwide. No other production dates, sizes or varieties of Chunky Salsa products are affected by this recall. To locate the production code, consumers should look on the glass jar itself below the cap and above the label.

This voluntary action is being taken after reports by a total of three consumers that glass had been found in the product. No injuries have been reported. Due to the popularity of the product and proactive measures that have been taken, it is believed that no product remains in retail distribution. For this reason, consumers are asked to examine their refrigerator and pantry for the specific packages of the product.

Consumers who may have purchased the recalled Chunky Salsa should not consume the product, but instead should return it to the store for a full refund. Consumers who have questions or concerns may call (800) 876-8697, ext. 15918. Consumers may also view more details of the recall on the FDA webstie.
