The call for President Obama’s impeachment has been slowly and steadily gaining momentum for the past five years.  Many regard the presidents blatant disregard for scandals like ‘Fast and Furious’ and the slaughter in Benghazi as grounds for impeachment.  Others will point to Obamacare and the never-ending cost increase projections surrounding it justification.

An online community has sprung up in recent months that has drawn attention to the movement.  ‘Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment’ was started in Oklahoma by James Neighbors.  On August 6, a series of overpass rallies were held to drive home the message.  One such rally took place in Wichita Falls this morning from 7 am to 9 am on the Airport Drive overpass at I-44.  One of the organizers, who asked not to be identified, said the purpose was to bring recognition to the scandals that have now been labeled ‘fake’ or 'phony' by the administrations mouthpiece, Jay Carney.

“It’s been timed to coincide with the downing of Extortion 17 and the tragic deaths of the Seal Team 6 members”, she stated.  Extortion 17 was the call sign of the CH-47 Chinook that was shot down by Islamic militants near Kabul, Afghanistan on August 6, 2011.   Participants in this morning’s rally waived American and Gadsden flags and held signs encouraging motorists below to ‘honk’ if they supported Obama’s impeachment.  Most of the motorists who we observed honked.  Some stopped along the overpass itself to take pictures and ask questions.  “Reaction has been totally positive, supportive”, said one participant.

The rallies continue tonight with another rally planned on the Airport Road overpass at I-44 from 5pm to 7pm this evening.  Another rally is planned for the Windthorst Road overpass on August 17th.
