Update: TMZ is reporting multiple sources as stating that Prince was treated for a drug overdose six days before his death. This was the incident in which Prince's plane made an emergency landing in Illinois. According to the TMZ report, sources state that doctors gave him a "save shot," typically administered to counter the effects of an opiate. Their sources say doctors advised he stay for 24 hours, but when he was not guaranteed a private room, he decided to leave. At present, an official cause of death has not been revealed.

Tragic news to report, as legendary musician Prince has reportedly died at the age of 57.

"It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57," stated the singer's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure.

Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early this morning (April 21). Fox 9 reports that Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud confirmed a response to a medical call at 9:43AM at Prince's Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minn. According to TMZ, Prince was found in an elevator and the medics at the scene attempted to perform CPR, but were unable to revive him. Audio of the dispatch call can be heard at TMZ. The time of death is listed at 10:07AM Central Time. The Carver County Sheriff's Office is reportedly investigating the circumstances of Prince's death, but they do not suspect foul play.

This news comes just six days after the iconic entertainer's private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois. Prince's reps told the media he was simply suffering from a bad case of the flu. Prince had previously cancelled two shows due to health concerns prior to his April 22 showing.

According to MPRNews, the musician reportedly held a dance party this past Saturday night (April 16) at his Paisley Park estate and made a brief appearance, telling those in attendance, "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers."
