The Wichita Falls Animal Services Center is saying that two recalls have been issued regarding pet food and heartworm medication. This includes both dog and cat varieties.

The first recall involves Procter & Gamble’s Eukanuba and Iams dry foods. They stated the food may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can also affect pet owners if they handle the food. If you begin exhibiting signs such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, or fever, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Signs that your pet has been infected include diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. The FDA has specific lot numbers for the recall.

The next recall involves Virbac Animal Health’s Iverhart Plus Flavored Chewables for heartworm prevention. This particular recall is due to low levels of Ivermectin, which may leave pets unprotected. You may check your lot numbers for the Iverhart recall here.
