COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Memorial services have been scheduled for the Burleson County sheriff's deputy killed last week while serving a warrant.

A visitation is planned for Thursday at Central Baptist Church in College Station for Sgt. Adam Sowders. The Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1hGNqO7 ) about 3,000 people are expected to attend the funeral of the 31-year-old at Central Baptist on Friday. Burial will follow in Somerville, about 90 miles northwest of Houston.

Twenty-eight-year-old Henry Goedrich Magee has been charged with capital murder in Sowders' death. Authorities say he fired on Sowders as investigators served a search warrant Dec. 19 at his home near Somerville.

Dick DeGuerin, Magee's attorney, has said the shooting was an accident. He said Magee was asleep and didn't know deputies were entering his rural home.
