This area, although not yet protected by historic designation, includes numerous styles of bungalow (Mission, California, Arts & Crafts, and Prairie) architecture. The majority of the structures in this neighborhood were built between 1909 and 19042 and include over 630 properties. Although much of this area experienced a downturn in the pas, there are prime examples of preserved homes and restorations in progress. Southland and the downtown core were a special feature in American Bungalow Fall 2004 with “Little Bungalows on the Prairie: Wichita Falls”
