City of Wichita Falls: Lake levels drop below 50 percent

We all know what the intense heat and drought have done to us.   Just look at the majority of lawns around the area.  Or look at the dwindling cattle herds.  It's awfully tough to maintain a herd with no grass and dry tanks, so area ranchers have sold them off in record numbers...

So, fellow, Wichitans, it looks likes we need to implement some big-time water conservation!  City leaders met today to discuss the conditions we've undergone the last few months and it looks like Drought Watch 2011 will be upon us sooner than we'd like to believe.  Here's the official statement from the City:

It looks like the summer of 2011 might just be one for the books. And while it's always exciting to set new records, there are downsides, too.
