The recent ousting of a similarly authoritarian Tunisian leader inspired the revolt.</p>
<p>Military enforcement <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/29/world/middleeast/29unrest.html?_r=1&amp;hp">has been called in by the government</a> to deal with the demonstrators, firing water cannons and tear gas to into the crowds as seen in the below video footage:
