Following the tragic death of star Paul Walker, Universal Pictures has announced they are going to delay further production on the new Fast & Furious film until they can decide how to proceed.

Cast and crew for Fast & Furious 7 were scheduled to return to production on Sunday for reshoots following a holiday break, but now further production has been suspended.  Universal does not plan to cancel the project, only to give cast and crew time to grieve and come up with a viable and respectful way to continue the film without Paul Walker.  In a statement, Universal said,

All of us at Universal are heartbroken.  Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family.

In the past, actors who died during production of a film were either recast or their remaining scenes were completed via stand-ins and/or computer effects.  The film was originally slated for release on July 11, 2014, however it is highly likely that will change soon.
