Two children were reported in critical condition after the horse they were riding was struck by pickup truck.  According to DPS and  media reports, the accident happened along McFall Road just north of FM 258 at around 1pm Friday.

The driver of the truck reportedly told the DPS he had swerved to miss a dog in the roadway and did not see the horse.  The children, a 13 year-old boy and an 11 year-old girl, were taken to United Regional Hospital, then by Care Flight to Cook's Fort Worth Children's Hospital.

Sources tell News Talk 1290 that the boy has died of his injuries and that the girl remains in critical condition as of Saturday morning.   A DPS official says the investigation is ongoing.  The driver of the truck was uninjured.  No names have been released at this time.  We will update this story as it progresses.
