Wal-Mart's CEO Bill Simon is warning you: inflation, she is a coming!  My response?  Duh!  Mr. Simon, this is not news, at least to those of us who have been practically screaming this message for months now.  Many of us on talk radio, from Joe Tom White to Glenn Beck have been sending up this warning for long time.  Did you just get the memo?  I think you should have a little talk with your assistant or secretary or someone!  Inflation, contrary to what most may believe, is not just a function of prices, cost inputs and so forth, but also money supply.  The Feds have put billions upon billions upon billions into circulation.  And they have a TON of money in reserves.  Depending on whose figures you wish to run with, the money supply has increased somewhere between 18 and 25 percent since 2008.  And the reserves, many, many times that amount (one article in a California publication earlier this year suggested reserves have increased by over 2,000 percent-I'm investigating).  What all of this means, more or less, is that hyperinflation is but a hop, skip and jump away if we are not damned careful.  Some analysts think we're past the point of no return now.  The stock market looks obviously bloated, the nations debt is off the charts and Bernake just keeps on a smilin' for the cameras.   But the message from the CEO of Wal Mart strikes a harsh cord.  Wal Mart, love 'em or hate 'em, is THE biggest retailer in the world.  Their sales exceed a billion dollars a day.  They're accounting department is bigger than some countries.  When Wal Mart runs a fever, the rest of the retail world goes into convulsions.  They have a tremendous amount of stroke when it comes to pricing.  Supplies are another issue.  And so are inflationary pressures.  Even Wal Mart, with all of it's might and weight, cannot stop much of what is going on right now.  When money starts to flow too fast and no one can buy 'stuff' with it, watch out.  Fuel prices are really putting the clamps on buying as well, but that's a whole other article.  Don't look now, but I think they're circling the wagons in Bentonville.
