Walter Cronkite Breaks News of JFK Assassination — This Week In History [VIDEO]

It was 48 years ago yesterday that JFK was shot and killed while traveling in a motorcade in Texas. Shortly after the terrible incident, CBS News interrupted a broadcast of ‘As the World Turns’ and Walter Cronkite broke the news to a shocked nation.

At first, details were sketchy and Cronkite reported that Kennedy had been “seriously wounded.” But as the story developed, it soon became clear the situation was much worse. Watch the historic news bulletin below.
