On Tuesday (Dec 8), Wichita County Sheriff deputies made a traffic stop on two vehicles at the intersection of U.S. 287 and F.M. 1739 near Electra that netted the seizure of nearly half a million dollars worth of Marijuana.

Deputy Justin Mitchell and Deputy Gabriel Villarreal pulled over the vehicles at about 1:45 p.m. Deputy Villarreal's canine, Deputy Cane, alerted on one of the vehicles.

After a search of the vehicle, 74 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $474,000 was discovered and seized.

The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Steven Lamar Eldridge, was arrested and transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and charged with possession of marijuana over fifty pounds and under two thousand pounds.

The Wichita County Sheriff's office has seized a total of 169 pounds of narcotics so far this year.
