Wichita Falls To Get New BMX Track

The Wichita Falls City Council voted Tuesday morning to help fund a new attraction for the city: a BMX style track at Berend’s Landing.

Council members voted to spend $50,000 of 4B sales tax funds to cover a portion of the construction costs.  Additional funds will come from Streams and Valleys and the Hotter N Hell Hundred committee.  The groups are kicking in $45,000 and $38,500 respectively.

The plans were put into motion by Sandy Monson from Streams and Valley's and Bo Williams of Extreme Air Ministries several months ago.  According to city officials, the track will sit on about 60,000 square feet of property near Berend’s Landing in downtown Wichita Falls. The track will host BMX events and competitions and will be one of only four covered tracks in the United States. The first phase of the project is expected to be complete before the 32^nd annual Hotter N Hell Hundred on August 24^th.
