Massive Brookshire’s Donation Helps Feed Thousands in East Texas
(KNUE-FM) While most Texans are rushing around this time of year, it’s nice to slow down and realize all the good that is happening here in East Texas. There are Christmas lights and decorations all around the area and lots of people who are trying to help those struggling during this time of year. One company has stepped up big, that would be the Brookshire Grocery Co.
Not sure if you heard or not, but recently the Brookshire Grocery Co. dropped off more than $100,000 worth of food to the East Texas Food Bank. It was approximately 4,000 hams and 40,000 pounds of fresh produce all to help families here in East Texas have a wonderful holiday season.
What blows me away is that so many companies are making cuts and focusing only on increasing profits. But one of the biggest employers in our area is deciding to help others over profits. This comes in a year when they also opened a brand-new Fresh by Brookshire’s location in Longview. It just shows their true generosity!

How Brookshire’s and Hormel Teamed Up for the Donation
The donation that was made from Brookshire’s is in partnership with Hormel Foods to provide the hams. Brookshire’s then started working with produce vendors to donate $60,000 in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Why Corporate Giving Matters During the Holidays
When the world feels chaotic and stressful, remember there are plenty of good things that is happening in our own backyard. We have local companies that care about our citizens and our communities. That is a pretty cool thing to see especially during the holiday season!
