Watch Halloween Baby Kalo Celebrate 2nd Birthday at Dallas Zoo
It was a Halloween to remember at the Dallas Zoo, as two-year-old baby hippo Kalo celebrated her birthday with treats, pumpkins, and a bit of hippo sibling mischief. You can check out the video at the bottom of this article.
Dubbed "Kaloween" by fans and zookeepers alike, the day became a fantastic mix of Halloween and birthday vibes, complete with a spooky setup that would make any animal lover's heart melt.
Kalo, the adorable “baby” hippo, had the day’s spotlight—though "big sister" Adanna had other plans. When the zoo keepers brought out a haul of pumpkins and tasty treats just for Kalo, Adanna promptly seized the opportunity to steal both the show and, well, as many pumpkins as she could get her hippo teeth into. Guests were delighted as the two sisters splashed and stomped around, turning the festivities into a full-blown hippo party!
The Dallas Zoo’s social media was buzzing with pictures of the sisters playfully competing for treats, bringing Halloween and birthday fans together to celebrate Kalo’s big day. Zookeepers noted how much Kalo has grown since her first year and couldn’t help but join in the laughter as Adanna snatched yet another pumpkin from the birthday girl’s pile.
Kaloween has already become an annual favorite, showing just how hippos can make any holiday that much more entertaining. Keep an eye out for more from Kalo and Adanna—if there’s anything we learned this Kaloween, it’s that these hippos know how to celebrate in style.
