It was one of those mornings where North Texans thought the weather gods were playing a cruel joke.

Before anyone had a chance to sip their morning coffee or even rub the sleep out of their eyes, Mother Nature decided to drop a little surprise – in the form of quarter-sized hail. You can check out the video at the bottom of this article.

Around the crack of dawn on Wednesday, early risers didn’t just hear birds chirping or alarm clocks blaring, but rather the unmistakable thud-thud-thud of icy pellets pelting everything from rooftops to car hoods. The culprits? Overnight storms rolled through like a party crasher, bringing hail that had everyone scrambling for cover.

Congratulations to those lucky enough to have garages! Your car was spared. As for the rest of us? Let’s just say there were more than a few colorful words muttered as people assessed the morning damage. Though it wasn’t quite the apocalyptic hailstorm we all dread (you know, the type that turns your sedan into Swiss cheese), quarter-sized hail still has the ability to make anyone question their life decisions—like whether skipping that extra insurance was a good idea.

The storm didn't linger, but it definitely left its mark. By the time the sun peeked through, melting the ice balls, Texans were left with one major takeaway: check the weather before bedtime. Because in Texas, even the weather can't help but be dramatic. #HailYeah #TexasProblems #WhereIsMyGarage
