The situation kicked off when Harris County Sheriff's deputies began pursuing an 18-wheeler that was slowly crawling along the highway shoulder. The truck, despite its sluggish pace, eventually came to a full stop with one wheel still spinning as it idled on the freeway's shoulder.

Refused to Exit

Authorities quickly surrounded the truck, at times with guns drawn, as the driver refused to exit the vehicle. The reason behind the pursuit remains unclear, but deputies deployed spike strips multiple times to bring the rig to a halt.

Additional law enforcement, including a helicopter, arrived on the scene. Crisis negotiators communicated with the driver, but he remained seated behind the wheel.

Time for the Rook

Heavy equipment known as a 'rook' was brought in to ram the truck, ripping the door off the cab. A type of gas was released into the cab, yet the driver sat stoically through it all.
