Another Texoma Cheer Coach Steals Funds from Cheerleading Team
What is going on with the cheer programs in the Wichita Falls area this year?
Back in January of this year, we reported that the cheer coach at Legacy High School was embezzling funds. Jordan Ingram was booked in the Wichita County Jail for theft of at least $2,500 but under $30,000. You can read more on that case here. Looks like the same kind of thing was happening in Electra for their local cheer program.
Electra Youth Cheer Program Had Funds Stolen from Teacher
Kristen Doss is a teacher with the Electra ISD and helps out the Electra Youth Cheer Program. This program is not associated with the Electra ISD. Like many of these organizations, parents pay money to be a part of it or funds are raised for the organization to continue. Kristen is accused of stealing funds from the organization for her own use.
Electra Parents Became Suspicious of the Money in the Account
About two weeks ago, an investigation began after parents became concerned that reimbursements for cheerleading activities were getting denied or delayed. KFDX reports the bank that the cheer program was using, had an account with purchases at liquor stores, Amazon orders, and personal money transfers.
Kristen Doss Faces Same Charges as the Legacy Cheer Coach
Kristen Doss has also been booked in the Wichita County Jail on theft of at least $2,500 but under $30,000. Police determined that she used at least $3,500 in cheerleading funds for personal use. They do say it could be more, but not likely over $30,000 to increase the charge.
Looks like we now have a pattern of people stealing from cheerleading organizations in our area. May want to keep a closer eye on those accounts.
