Watch: Man Swings from Crane High Above Downtown Austin

Just watching this video of a man swinging from a crane in downtown Austin makes my palms sweat. I’m not joking around either – I'm that terrified of heights.

But the old boy who took the crane for a joyride clearly isn’t bothered in the least bit by heights. He’s just swinging away as if he’s on a swing set in the park.

The biggest question on my mind is how in the world did he get up there? I don’t know the first thing about operating a crane, but I assume someone had to have helped him.

Who knows? Maybe it’s some sort of stunt that was approved in advance with a POV video to follow. However, I seriously doubt the construction company would be okay with it.

While the video cuts off as the guy is swinging back and forth from the crane, I’m going to assume the stunt ended well, seeing as I haven’t heard otherwise. I’m pretty sure it would be all over the news if it didn’t.

We may never know the identity of the Downtown Austin Daredevil. But one thing that is for certain is that he is much braver (and crazier) than the guy writing this.
