A Tribute to the Texas Rangers Peagle Being Retired
In what maybe a very stupid move, the Texas Rangers announced this is the final season of the Peagle.
Back in 2023, the Texas Rangers became World Series champions for the first time in their franchise history. Was it due to clutch hitting, good management, or the bullpen finally stepping up? Many say a good luck charm the Rangers introduced early in the season could have had something to do with it.
In 2023, the Texas Rangers unveiled their first ever city connect uniform. The Rangers paid tribute to the history of the Dallas/Fort Worth baseball scene. The uniform shows love to the Dallas Panthers, the Dallas Eagles and the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs. A new logo was created combining two of those teams into something called 'The Peagle'. You can see it on the right shoulder in the photo above.
The new jersey and city connect hat were hot sellers when they first hit the market. The Rangers wore them for every Friday night home game throughout the 2023 season. Now the Rangers technically had a losing record with the city connect uniforms going 6-7. Fans didn't care, they loved the peagle.
You can find countless fans rallying behind The Peagle in the 2023 season and it has become synonymous with the World Series champion team. Apparently MLB and Nike have a rule with the city connect uniforms. When you get a new one, the old old gets retired. So 2025 will be the final season of The Peagle per the Texas Rangers.
Hopefully fans who got a Peagle tattoo are not too upset with their decision. Yes, several fans have The Peagle tattooed on them.
R.I.P. Peagle, 2023-2025. Fans can still enjoy The Peagle this season and a Peagle bobble head giveaway on April 4th. More info on that below.
