Wichita Falls, Texas Maybe Raising Bus Fares Soon, But Don’t Panic
This fall you may have to pay an increased fare if you use the bus system in Wichita Falls.
Get All the Details on the Proposals Below
For the first time since 2013, the City of Wichita Falls is considering a price increase for the bus service around town. Knowing this town, I am sure everyone is ready to complain. Honestly, it's not a crazy increase AT all.
Proposed 50 Cent Increase for All Day Bus Service
Currently, the rates are $1.50 for your trip for one ride and an additional $1.50 to return, totaling $3 for a round trip. The new plan would eliminate one way bus rides and give you just a simple 24 hour bus pass for $3.50 to go as you please. Considering the fact that the price has not gone up in over a decade and it's only fifty cents, this shouldn't be much to complain about.
Public Hearings on Proposed Bus Rate Increase
For those with questions or concerns about this proposed rate increase. The city will be having public meetings at the Travel Center at 306 Scott Avenue. These will be happening on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Current Fares for the Wichita Falls Bus Schedule for the Month
*30 Day Passes*
Adult Fare | Unlimited Rides | $45.00 |
Elderly Fare | Unlimited Rides | $22.00 |
Disabled Fare | Unlimited Rides | $22.00 |
Student Fare | Unlimited Rides | $22.00 |
All the info on the current bus prices taken from the City of Wichita Falls website. Looks like if you're someone who pays for the month instead of the daily rides. That price will increase to $50 and the discounted riders for elderly, disabled, or students will increase to $25. We will wait and see if this passes, if it does, it will go into effect on October 1, 2025.
