The car had apparently been sitting at the tow yard for days before the discovery was made. Police confirmed the Tesla is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd.

Linked back to a popular Texas artist.

The 20-year-old has quickly become a major name in music, with tracks like “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide” each pulling over a billion streams and millions of fans following his every move. D4vd's performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and is currently in the middle of a world wide tour.

At this point, authorities have not identified the victim, and while the connection to the popular singer is startling, it’s worth noting that D4vd himself has been active online as he continues his tour.

The death investigation continues.

So far, reps for D4vd haven’t commented, but the shocking discovery has already set off a wave of questions: how did a body end up in his car, and who is the victim?

This is now being handled as a death investigation, and police say the suspect’s identity, along with any possible connection to the singer, remains under review.
