BJ’s Wholesale Club Approved for New Tyler Location
(Tyler, Texas) For years, Tyler residents have taken to social media to voice their desire for a Costco in the Rose City
However, another warehouse store has beaten Costco to the punch and could soon be in a prime location.
As residents patiently waited for Costco to arrive, another big-box warehouse store has just received the go-ahead from the Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission to develop and build a new retail location in a budding development in south Tyler.
Where in Tyler Will BJ’s Be Built?
BJ's Wholesale Club has received a permit to construct and open a location in Tyler in a new development that is currently under construction at S. Broadway Ave. and W. Cumberland Rd., pending final approval from the Tyler City Council.
In a video from the latest Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission board meeting posted on KLTV, the board has approved BJ's Wholesale Club's plans for its expansion into East Texas.

In addition to the retail building, BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking approval for fuel stations to accompany the warehouse-style store.
A Look at BJ’s Expansion Across Texas
BJ's Wholesale Club is similar to Sam's Club and Costco, with primary locations in the Eastern parts of the US, including New York, Massachusetts, and Florida. They are expanding into Texas and currently have four locations under construction. Those locations are in Forney, Waxahachie, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie. With the green light from Tyler, this will be the company's fifth location in Texas.

More Than Retail: What Locals Hope to See
Much of the land at this intersection has already been cleared in preparation for this proposed multi-facility, multi-use retail and entertainment complex. Residents are hoping more entertainment options arrive in this new development, and not just a bunch of box retail stores and restaurants.
