
New Hotel Plans Revealed Near Amarillo Buc-ee’s
Amarillo sits in the heart of the Texas Panhandle, and it is the largest city on I-40 between Albuquerque and Oklahoma City. The city is growing rapidly. Many people will tell you that the city only grows to the southwest, but the east side of Amarillo is starting to see a lot of growth.
Why Amarillo’s East Side Is Booming
Much of the new growth in this area has a lot to do with the addition of Buc-ee's. As many know, Buc-ee's is a destination. Now that the mother of all convenience stores is located in Amarillo, the city is gaining even more tourism. Amarillo is a great place to visit, and it's a great place for an overnight stop. It's no secret that Amarillo has a plethora of hotels to choose from, especially off I-40.

Why Amarillo's East Side Is Prime for Hotel Development
As a hotelier, it would be a smart decision to build a hotel close to Buc-ee's and the airport. Many tourists will be traveling to this area and will need another option for a hotel. Currently, the closest hotel to both the airport and Buc-ee's is the Fairfield Inn, but soon, that hotel will have some competition as another hotel is set to be built in the area.
What Hotel Is Being Built Near Amarillo Airport and Buc-ee’s?
According to the Texas Department of Licensing, a Residence Inn & Springhill Suites Hotel is about to be built in that area.
The hotel will be located at 1578 Airport Freeway. It will be a 4-story double-brand hotel. Construction is slated to start in July 2025 with an estimated completion date of November 2026. That would be just in time for Buc-ee's Christmas items!
The estimated cost of the project is $14.5 million.

This is just the beginning of the construction to continue in that area. Right now, the only stand-alone restaurant in the area is Buffalo Wild Wings, plus a Denny’s inside the Flying J Truck Stop. That’s not counting Buc-ee’s famous brisket sandwiches, burritos, and Beaver Nuggets. Look for even more retail, restaurants, and hotels to pop up in the area soon.
