Carrie Underwood's return to Sunday Night Football is fast approaching.

Over the weekend, NBC shared the first teaser of her 2024 opening theme song, along with a montage video to get fans fired up for football season. The clip shows Underwood stepping into the spotlight — decked out in a bedazzled silver outfit, of course – interspersed with shots of football games and fans cheering along from the sidelines.

NBC's SNF will commence on Sept. 8 with the Detroit Lions' home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Underwood is now in her 12th year of performing the SNF opening theme song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night." She inherited the torch from Faith Hill in 2013, and over the years, she's taken some creative liberties in addition to performing the traditional theme song.

Carrie Underwood's Sunday Night Football Theme Songs

In 2017, Underwood created a football-friendly version of her Miranda Lambert duet, "Something Bad," calling it "Oh Sunday Night." She also recorded an original song called "Game On."

In 2019, for the NFL's 100th anniversary, Underwood enlisted rocker Joan Jett to appear alongside her for the opening video. Jett's 1988 hit "I Hate Myself for Loving You" is the original inspiration behind the "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" theme.

Underwood is gearing up for a busy year ahead. In 2025, she's joining the cast of American Idol as a judge — two decades after she won the singing competition in 2005.
