200 Missing Kids From Across The USA Found In Arizona
200 missing kids from across the United States, many victims of human trafficking, were found. Several in multiple Arizona cities.
The US Marshals Office just completed Operation: We Will Find You 2, rescuing missing children from all over the country. Many were found in Phoenix, Glendale, Goodyear and Tucson, Arizona.
Other states targeted in the joint operation included California, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, and Oregon. Many of these kids were victims of the $150 billion dollar a year human trafficking industry.
According to the US Justice Department, the operation was conducted from May 20 to June 24 and was centered on areas on the United States of America with "high clusters of critically missing children".
With technical assistance from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), OWWFY2 resulted in the recovery and removal of 123 children from dangerous situations. An additional 77 missing children were located and found to be in safe locations, according to law enforcement or child welfare agencies. Of the 200 children found, 173 were endangered runaways, 25 were considered otherwise missing, one was a family abduction, and one was a non-family abduction. - justice.gov
Here in the El Paso area, the Paso Del Norte Center Of Hope seeks to stop human trafficking and assist the victims of it in a number of ways. They need a little help too though as, when it comes to human trafficking, El Paso is pretty "busy".
Our proximity to the international border and easy access to I-10 ... the most heavily travelled, human trafficking route in the country ... are a couple of reasons why El Paso is very active in the trafficking world.
