It has been said that El Paso has some of the BEST sunsets. Who says this? El Pasoans of course, but after Thursday night's sunset it’s not a biased opinion. It’s a fact!

I was driving to take my son to his dad’s house a few minutes after 8 o’clock and I caught a glimpse of El Paso’s sky looking like it was on fire!

The orange colored sunset was mesmerizing and I wasn’t alone in thinking this.

When I got home I logged onto Instagram and my news feed was full of beautiful El Paso sunset photos and I was even MORE mesmerized by this El Paso sunset.

My former co-worker and KVIA evening news anchor Erik Elken shared an amazing photo with a caption that was on point, “I sure don’t take the El Paso sunsets for granted!”

What made this sunset even more meaningful was the fact that Mother Nature gave us such beauty in the sky after a day where most El Pasoans were mourning the tragedy that took place in our city three years ago.

I remember I took a photo of El Paso’s sunset the evening of the August 3rd shooting right after it rained and for me, that sunset gave me the same feeling I got when I saw Thursday’s sunset.

I like to think that Thursday’s beautiful sunset was a message to our community. The message is up for interpretation to whoever else believes in “signs” like I do.
