While this story is from many years ago, it is the first time that I have seen it. So I thought I would share it with you.  A Texas homeowner woke up to someone trying to break into his storage shed. So he shot them!  Dallasnews.com reports that  James Michael Meyer, a 72-year-old Dallas man, was charged with murder after he fatally shot a burglar outside his home and told authorities that he went back to bed before calling 911.

Meyer was reportedly asleep in his home when he was awakened by unexpected noises outside. He said he looked out a window and saw a man trying to break into his storage shed with a pickaxe after he heard the disturbance and saw someone who appeared to be burglarizing his shed.

Meyer armed himself with a handgun and went outside. After the intruder failed to listen to the man's warning he took a shot that made him drop his pickaxe. The burglar fled and the homeowner took a second shot 'into the night' without knowing where the bullet landed. He then went back inside to bed.

According to the article, Meyer was held at the Dallas County Jail on a $150,000 bond!

Meyer said he had his wife contact an attorney before he called 911 to report a home invasion in progress.

Meyer refused to answer the 911 dispatcher’s questions and repeatedly said “he was a victim of a crime and that medical assistance was needed,” according to the warrant.
